An unorthodox arrival in the Khumbu

9/4. Early morning rise to the sound of heavy rain in Kathmandu. The flight to Lukla might not go but you never know. Battled the crowd at the airport and secured a seat on the plane. Almost there! But not quite.... on route the weather closed in so we were diverted to Phaplu airport. Weather was getting worse not better so it was looking like a night in Phaplu. Opportunity favors the brave!!!!!! Another group decided to call Kathmandu and charter 2 choppers for the remaining part of the trip. What do you know 2 spare seats. Would have been rude not to!!! With the choppers loaded to capacity we set off. The heavy cloud was on the peaks so by flying low in the valleys we could get into the small town of Jamphute. Our trip to EBC had begun..... not as planned but hey certainly more exciting.
